Critical Steps of Proper Reflective Thinking (video Review)
Reflective thinking is an act that is iterative, relevant for continuous learning, and effective in ensuring we become effective decision makers.
The review of the video below focuses on a model that explains four sections:
Section one:
Objective: what are the facts you read or a quote that you were exposed to that caused this reflection. This can also be an event or a situation that you want to reflect about. Hence the basis of your reflection.
Section two:
Feelings: You then reflect on how it made you feel. You describe how you felt, what was your gut reaction and if you agree or disagree with how you felt.
Section three:
Interpretation: You interpret reasons why you reacted the way you reacted and the experience you have with the situation. You also interpret the causes of the gut reaction so that you gain insights or perspectives about it.
Section four:
Decision: From then onwards, you think of the decisions you will take in relation to the similar situation. This is based on the insights collected from the reflection. The decision might be negative or positive based on the kind of the results you expect.
Check the video below to learn with example on how all four stages were applied to have a successful reflective thinking.
